Mah Jongg Fever!

Do you live in the Seattle Area? Are you looking for a friendly Mah Jongg group to join?

Mah Jongg Fever

Calling all Mah Jonggers and Mah Jongger-hopefuls!

If you don’t play at all or have only played the online matching version of Mah Jongg, why not try the REAL thing? Seattle’s Mah Jongg Fever Meetup group has been introducing newbies to the game of American Mah Jongg since 2009. Seasoned players as well as people who’ve been away from the game are always welcome too. We meet at the Panama Hotel & Tea House at 6:30 pm on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Wednesdays and at Delridge Uptown Espresso on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 1:30 pm. No experience necessary and we provide all game materials. Just bring your smile and your desire to learn and make new friends!

Mah Jongg Flipbook Receives “Thumbs Up” Review from Author of “Mah Jongg, The Art of the Game”

Yesterday, my Mah Jongg Meetup group, “Mah Jongg Fever” sponsored an Author Talk at the Beacon Hill Branch of the Seattle Library. Gregg Swain, co-author of the beautiful book, “Mah Jongg, The Art of the Game,” presented a collection of full-color photos on screen of some amazing art related to Mah Jongg and shared fascinating facts about this ancient game with us. She explained the whole book writing process as well. The program was a great success!

We had a terrific turnout of 14 Mah Jongg enthusiasts who enjoyed Gregg Swain’s visually stunning presentation. After the talk, Gregg was on hand to examine several Mah Jongg sets brought in by some of us.

Then we had about a dozen people who stayed and played some Mah Jongg games. Much fun!

Two cool announcements:

1.) Gregg drew the winning ticket of the door prize (a copy of my flipbook)  – Congrats to Kate W.!

and

2.) Gregg was happy to submit some comments about my Mah Jongg Flipbook to help me promote it. Gregg wrote, “A wonderful, easy to use guide for beginning Mah Jongg players.”
